Teachers choose the correct level for their student by primarily matching the technique level:
Book 1 includes all Major 5 Finger Patterns and the Major Scales of C, F & G (one octave)
Book 2 includes all Major & Minor 1 octave scales, hand over hand arpeggios and root position I IV I V7 I chord progressions
Book 3 includes all Major & Minor 2 octave scales, one hand arpeggios and all 3 positions for the I IV I V7 I chord progressions
Each year, students purchase a new copy of THE PIANIST'S JOURNAL, according to the level that their teacher determines.
Students can use the same level as the previous year, or progress to the next level. Using the same level for multiple years is very beneficial -
students can continue their technique assignments where they left off and they can review and rework theory pages.
The creative assignments can be redone using entirely new approaches towards arranging and composing.
